Alex Eala ousted in doubles play at Oeiras Open

MANILA, Philippines– Filipino tennis player Alex Eala exited in the first round of the doubles event on Wednesday at the Oeiras Ladies Open in Portugal.

Eala participated in her first doubles competition since the Miami Open, pairing with Katie Volynets.

They were defeated by the fourth-seeded Americans, Christina Rosca and Carmen Corley, with set scores of 3-6, 4-6.

Previously, Eala advanced to the semifinals of the Miami Open by defeating three Grand Slam champions.

Despite the doubles loss, Eala continued her singles campaign in Portugal, reaching the Round of 16 after defeating Anouk Koevermans.
