MANILA, Philippines– Actress Carla Abellana reported on social media this week that she was targeted in a food delivery scam involving two individuals posing as riders from the Foodpanda platform.
The incident occurred when a rider failed to deliver a prepaid order to Abellana. She later received a message from a second person claiming to be another Foodpanda rider and requesting cash on delivery for the same order.
Abellana shared details of the incident on Threads, warning followers about the potential scam. She said she nearly paid the second individual before realizing the situation appeared suspicious.
Online users responded to her post by sharing similar experiences and urging greater caution when dealing with delivery services.
Authorities have reminded the public to verify delivery attempts directly through official apps and to report suspicious behavior to the platforms and law enforcement.
Foodpanda has not issued a statement regarding the incident as of press time.
