SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A Vietnam War veteran rescued a woman during a dog attack on San Antonio’s west side this week, according to police and local officials.

The attack occurred in a residential neighborhood and was captured on security footage. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was walking when three dogs approached and attacked her.

A nearby veteran intervened and helped pull her away from the dogs.

San Antonio Police Department officers responded to the scene. The woman was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. In a statement from her hospital bed, she thanked the veteran for his assistance.

Animal Care Services secured the three dogs. Officials have launched an investigation into the ownership and handling of the animals. The dogs’ owner may face legal consequences pending the outcome of the investigation.

City officials and residents have raised concerns about pet safety and ownership responsibilities. Community members are calling for stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents. Meetings are being scheduled to discuss potential policy changes.

The veteran, whose name has not been released, has not issued a public statement.
