SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio officials are keeping six resilience hubs open through 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, to provide relief to residents as severe storm damage leaves parts of the city without power.
The resilience hubs will remain open overnight and provide access to electricity, device charging, Wi-Fi and basic emergency resources. Residents who plan to stay overnight should bring clothing, medications and other personal supplies. Pet kennels will be available in separate areas.
The city designated the following locations as resilience hubs:
- Copernicus Community Center — 5003 Lord Road, 78220
- Garza Community Center — 1450 Mira Vista, 78228
- Miller’s Pond Community Center — 6175 Old Pearsall Road, 78242
- Normoyle Community Center — 700 Culberson, 78225
- Northeast Senior Center — 4135 Thousand Oaks, 78217
- Southside Lions Senior Center — 3303 Pecan Valley Drive, 78210
Residents can request free transportation to the resilience hubs through VIA Metropolitan Transit. They can call 311 or 210-207-6000 for assistance.
CPS Energy crews are continuing to repair power lines and other infrastructure damaged during Friday’s severe storms. Officials have warned that some outages could last for several days.
City crews are also clearing fallen trees and debris from public rights-of-way to keep roads accessible to emergency responders and residents.
Residents can report nonemergency tree damage, blocked streets and other storm-related debris through 311 or 210-207-6000. They can also email 311CustomerService@sanantonio.gov.
Residents can dispose of storm-related brush at the city’s Brush Collection Center at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway. The center will operate Sunday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the city will waive disposal fees for storm-related brush this weekend.
Officials are urging residents affected by the outages to make plans for prolonged periods without electricity and to use the resilience hubs and other city resources available during the recovery.
