MANILA, Philippines– The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has taken action regarding a controversial social media presence maintained by one of its officers.
The QCPD officially requested that Facebook remove the page of Patrolman Francis Steve Fontillas.
Fontillas has been noted for his posts that criticize President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Philippine National Police (PNP), while showing support for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Fontillas’s social media activities are perceived as being in direct opposition to the current administration and its policies.
The police department expressed concern that Fontillas’s posts could undermine public trust in law enforcement and potentially violate established codes of conduct for police officers.
QCPD’s request is currently under review by Facebook.
