Texas voters say no to Trump’s birthright citizenship repeal

A recent poll in Texas shows divided opinions among voters regarding President Donald Trump’s proposal to end birthright citizenship.

The proposal seeks to eliminate the 14th Amendment provision that grants automatic citizenship to individuals born in the United States.

The poll results indicate that many Texas voters oppose the proposal. Some respondents expressed concerns about its impact on families, particularly those with immigrant backgrounds. A portion of voters, however, support the proposal, citing concerns about illegal immigration.

Birthright citizenship, which is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment, grants citizenship to anyone born within U.S. borders, regardless of the parents’ immigration status. Trump has argued that the policy encourages illegal immigration.

The poll reflects ongoing discussions about immigration policy in Texas, a state with a large immigrant population.
