Illegal Mining Arrest in Isabela Involving Chinese Nationals

Isabela, Philippines — Five Chinese nationals have been detained in the province of Isabela due to allegations of illegal mining activities, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI). The government is enhancing efforts to curb illegal foreign operations within its borders. The suspects were found working at a mining site, leading to their arrest on February 27.

The individuals arrested include Xue Xianrong, Xingyue Qiu, Zeng Shuiying, Zhang Huaping, and Xue Junfeng. BI Chief Joel Anthony Viado provided these details while emphasizing the ongoing operations against unlawful foreign workers, particularly in sectors such as mining.

Illegal mining has been a concern in various parts of the Philippines, with local authorities working to monitor and enforce laws aimed at protecting the environment and local economies. The recent arrests in Isabela are part of a broader initiative to target operations that violate local regulations.
