MANILA, Philippines– The House of Representatives has established a secretariat to assist its prosecution team in preparation for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

While the Senate has not set a date for the trial’s start, the House is taking steps to ensure readiness.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco announced the formation of the secretariat, which will provide technical and logistical support to the prosecution team once the trial begins.

The secretariat’s responsibilities will include gathering evidence, preparing legal documents, and coordinating with legal experts to assist in building the impeachment case.

Velasco emphasized that the secretariat’s role is crucial in ensuring the prosecution team is well-equipped for the trial. It will handle logistical tasks, allowing the prosecution team to focus on presenting their case effectively.

Although the Senate has not finalized a timeline, the House’s establishment of the secretariat indicates a proactive approach to the impeachment process.

The prosecution team will be tasked with presenting the case against Vice President Duterte, while the Senate will serve as the trial court, with senators acting as judges.
