MANILA, Philippines — The Coalition of Filipino Commuters (CFC) has called on the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to ensure uniform enforcement of government-mandated discounts across all digital ride-hailing platforms.
The discounts in question are intended for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
This call comes as complaints have surfaced regarding some transport network companies (TNCs) allegedly failing to comply with these discount laws on their platforms.
A spokesperson from the group stated that commuters rely on these discounts as a means of easing their daily travel costs.
There is a concern that some platforms do not properly apply these discounts, leaving certain commuters paying more than they should.
The LTFRB has yet to release an official statement addressing these specific complaints.
However, the board’s existing regulations require that discounts be made available across all public utility vehicles, including those operating under digital platforms.
