HOUSTON, Texas — Parts of the METRORail lines in Houston will be closed this weekend due to necessary cleaning and repair work.

This decision affects several routes, including those in downtown Houston.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) announced the closures to residents and commuters, emphasizing the importance of maintenance for ensuring safe and reliable service.

METRO has assured riders that measures are in place to minimize disruptions. A free, two-way bus shuttle service will operate in the affected areas, including downtown, offering an alternative for travelers.

The introduction of shuttle services is a strategic effort by METRO to ensure that commuters experience minimal inconvenience.

Buses will run frequently, offering a viable alternative to the rail service. Users of the shuttle service can expect buses running on a tight schedule to align with their usual travel arrangements as closely as possible.

Real-time alerts and updates are available through METRO’s digital platforms. Users of the rail system are advised to stay connected for any last-minute changes or additional information about the shuttle services.
