AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan — Carlos Yulo won his second gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Friday after topping the men’s gymnastics vault final, giving the Philippines both of its gold medals in the competition so far.
Yulo posted an average score of 14.599 from two attempts, scoring 14.733 on his first vault and 14.466 on his second.
Iran’s Mahdi Olfati finished second with an average of 14.533. Olfati scored 15.100 on his first attempt but managed only 13.966 on his second vault.
Hong Kong’s Ka Ki Ng took the bronze medal with an average of 14.116.
Yulo, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, won the floor exercise title on Thursday to claim his first gold of the Asian Games.
The Filipino gymnast also finished fourth in the parallel bars final after scoring 14.300 with a difficulty value of 5.6.
Yulo performed second in the parallel bars final.
His vault and floor exercise victories mirror his performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he won gold in both events.
Fellow Filipino gymnast Miguel Besana finished fifth in the vault final with an average of 13.783.
Yulo’s younger brother, Karl Eldrew Yulo, will compete in the horizontal bar event as he seeks another medal for the Philippines.
