MANILA, Philippines — Actor Kelvin Miranda said the legal case over his father’s death remains ongoing after the other party reportedly offered to admit responsibility and settle the case through compensation.

Miranda discussed the case in an interview with showbiz vlogger Ogie Diaz uploaded to YouTube. He said the first trial took place a few days before the interview.

According to Miranda, the other party expressed willingness to admit responsibility and offer compensation as part of a possible settlement.

Miranda said he does not want to accept a settlement and prefers to let the legal process continue. He added that his mother, as his father’s wife, would decide whether to consider any settlement offer.

“I said it’s my mother’s decision because she is the wife. As for me, I don’t want to settle. I want to go through the proper process,” Miranda said.

When asked whether he wanted the driver imprisoned, Miranda said he wanted the court to impose the appropriate penalty under the law.

“I just want equality. And at the same time, equity, to give us a chance to forgive them in the way we can,” he said.

Miranda announced his father Patricio’s death in April 2025. Reports at the time said Patricio, a ride-hailing driver, died after a van struck the motorcycle he was driving. His passenger also sustained injuries.

Miranda currently plays Adamus in the fantasy series “Sang’gre.” He has also appeared in the films “Poon,” “Everyone Knows Every Juan” and “Chances Are, You and I.”
