Filipino American entertainers Nicole Scherzinger and Jo Koy have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as members of the Class of 2027, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday.
Scherzinger and Jo Koy were honored in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category alongside Italian ballet star Roberto Bolle as part of the 32-member class unveiled during a news conference at Funko Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame recognizes artists for their contributions to the entertainment industry across motion pictures, television, recording, radio, live theatre/live performance and sports entertainment.
Scherzinger, whose father is Filipino, rose to international fame as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls before building a career as a solo artist, television personality and stage performer. She has also earned acclaim for her work in musical theater, including Sunset Boulevard.
Jo Koy has become one of the world’s top-grossing stand-up comedians, with routines that frequently celebrate his Filipino heritage and experiences growing up with a Filipino mother.
The Class of 2027 also includes actors Pedro Pascal, Lisa Kudrow, Idris Elba, Kate Hudson and Adam Scott; recording artists Karol G, Sia, Linkin Park and Lil Wayne; and former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson in the Sports Entertainment category.
Recipients have up to two years to schedule their star ceremonies. Ceremony dates have not yet been announced.
