Brazil forward Neymar trained with the Brazil national football team for the first time on Tuesday at its training base in New Jersey as he continues his recovery from a right calf injury.
The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed Neymar participated in on-field training work after previously undergoing treatment since the squad arrived in the United States in late May.
Neymar, 34, has not yet returned to full training and missed Brazil’s 1-1 draw against Morocco in their opening World Cup match on Saturday.
He sustained the injury in late May and has not played for the national team since 2023 due to ongoing fitness issues. He has also featured in limited matches for his club this year because of injuries.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, joined the World Cup squad despite questions over his match fitness.
Brazil is scheduled to play Haiti in Philadelphia on Friday and Scotland in Miami on June 24 in its remaining Group C matches.
