MANILA, Philippines — Filipino setter Owa Retamar has returned to Cambodia to play for Visakha Volleyball Club in the 2026 Techo Volleyball Cambodia League (TVCL), the club and his management confirmed on Monday.
Retamar arrived in Cambodia on Monday for his second stint with Visakha, according to VP Global Management.
The Alas Pilipinas playmaker said he aims to help the club improve on its previous results after finishing third in the 4th Sar Kheng Cup.
“I’m happy to be back here because I had a really good experience with the team the last time,” Retamar said in Filipino. “We were able to finish third before, so now our goal is to achieve something even better.”
He also cited fan support as a motivating factor.
“The fans here in men’s volleyball are also very warm and supportive,” he said. “The energy they give every game really motivates you to perform well.”
Retamar, a former UAAP Finals MVP and Best Setter from National University, said he expects a more competitive league this season as teams are allowed multiple foreign imports.
“In this league, teams are allowed more than one import, so we expect every game to be even tougher,” he said. “We just need to adjust quickly when it comes to chemistry and preparation.”
He added that he will return to training immediately.
“Work starts immediately for me. I’m getting back to work as early as tomorrow.”
Retamar previously helped Visakha reach runner-up finishes in past editions of the league. He has also represented the Philippines in international competitions, including the FIVB Men’s World Championship and the Southeast Asian Games.
