WASHINGTON — Soccer fans could earn $50,000 while watching the FIFA World Cup, thanks to a new promotional job search launched by FOX Sports, FOX One, and Indeed.

The companies are seeking a “Chief World Cup Watcher” to view all 104 matches of the upcoming tournament and document the experience in real time. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, running from June 11 to July 19.

The selected applicant will watch every match in a custom-built viewing space in New York City, located in Times Square, and will be expected to create and share social media content throughout the tournament. The games will stream on FOX One, FOX Sports’ streaming platform.

“This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that calls for an equally historic hire,” FOX Sports president Robert Gottlieb said in a statement. “One engaged applicant will get the job of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every nation and every exhilarating moment.”

The 2026 tournament will be the first to feature 48 teams, expanding the total number of matches to 104 across 16 host cities.

What the job includes

According to FOX Sports, responsibilities for the role include:

  • Watching all 104 World Cup matches in 4K via FOX One
  • Broadcasting from a custom viewing space in Times Square
  • Creating social media content throughout the tournament
  • Engaging with fans and representing World Cup coverage online

Indeed chief marketing officer James Whitemore said the collaboration reflects the company’s mission to connect people with unique opportunities.

How to apply

Applicants must update their Indeed profiles by May 17 and submit a short social media video using the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher, explaining why they are the right fit for the role.

The job begins on June 6, ahead of the tournament kickoff, and ends on July 26, shortly after the World Cup final. The selected candidate will be revealed during a FOX broadcast of a Boston Red Sox–New York Yankees game.
