President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday denied reports that he is suffering from a serious illness, saying he has been following his regular routine since a medical diagnosis.
In an interview with Palace press officer Claire Castro, Marcos said he has been back to his usual schedule for three months after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, an inflammation of small pouches in the colon.
“I would like to thank those who are concerned about me. Please don’t take it too seriously; social media is just for fun. We don’t have any problems,” Marcos said. He added that he has resumed regular exercise and continues to monitor his health.
Earlier, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez said authorities are gathering evidence to file a complaint with the Department of Justice against individuals spreading rumors about Marcos’ health.
Marcos was hospitalized on January 21 and diagnosed with diverticulitis. He later assured the public that he was recovering well.
