SEOUL, South Korea — Jennie Kim of Blackpink is preparing legal action against social media users spreading false information about her, following a viral video showing her declining fans’ autograph requests.
In a statement, her agency, OA (Odd Atelier), condemned posts it described as malicious, slanderous, and damaging to Jennie’s reputation. The agency also cited increasing privacy violations, including disruptions to her personal time and attempts to track her movements.
“We are closely monitoring the spread of malicious posts, including defamation, insults, and the distribution of false information,” OA said. “We will take strong legal action against any illegal acts that damage the artist’s reputation.”
The video, filmed in Paris, shows Jennie initially entertaining autograph requests but later refusing some fans who allegedly asked for too many items to be signed. At one point, Jennie requested fans to “respect her privacy” and described the situation as stressful, asking, “Can’t I have my own time, please?”
The clip went viral, prompting criticism from some netizens who accused her of being rude or ignoring supporters. OA emphasized that the posts misrepresent the situation and are intended to harm Jennie’s image.
Jennie debuted with Blackpink in 2016 under YG Entertainment before establishing her own agency, OA, to manage her solo career in November 2023.
