MANILA — BLACKPINK member Rosé said she is “looking for love” but did not confirm whether she is currently dating during an appearance on the Jan. 28 episode of the “Call Me Daddy” podcast.
When host Alex Cooper asked if she was seeing anyone, the singer-songwriter responded, “Ohmigod… Because I just feel like, if I’m like, ‘No,’ I’m like, oh, it’s such a lie; you can tell. I am looking for love.”
Rosé said she feels uncomfortable discussing her relationships due to the attention and speculation that often follow public comments.
“The first thing when you ask something like that, it’s like all the articles, all the comments, I just see it, like, rolled down,” she said, adding that statements about her personal life could later be used to support assumptions about her.
She noted that conversations about dating can lead to narratives that misrepresent her. “Just because I was from a K-pop group doesn’t mean I am a different type of human being… everyone’s human,” she said.
Rosé confirmed she has been in a relationship before but chose to keep it private to protect the person involved and those close to her. She recalled wearing disguises, including a wig and clothing she associated with older women, to avoid being recognized when meeting her former boyfriend.
The singer also expressed hope that she could one day feel comfortable sharing details about a serious relationship. “Maybe [if I could] really fully trust the media to protect me and be there for me, then I might feel comfortable [sharing],” she said.
Rosé recently concluded BLACKPINK’s “Deadline” world tour with performances that included a stop at the Philippine Arena in November. She has also received Grammy nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for “APT.”
