House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos said Friday in Manila that the House of Representatives will not block any impeachment complaint filed against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and will act on such filings in line with constitutional procedures.

Marcos said the House has a constitutional obligation to process any impeachment complaint formally submitted to the Office of the House Secretary General. Once received, the complaint will move through the established legislative process.

Under House rules, the Office of the House Secretary General will transmit the complaint to the Office of the Speaker for appropriate action. The Speaker will then refer the matter to the House committee on rules.

The committee on rules will place the impeachment complaint in the Order of Business and subsequently refer it to the House committee on justice for consideration.

Marcos said the House will follow the required sequence of filing, transmittal, inclusion in the Order of Business, and referral to the committee on justice, as outlined under the 1987 Constitution.

He did not refer to any specific impeachment complaint and said the statement applies to any complaint that may be filed against the President.

Marcos said House leadership recognizes impeachment as a constitutional mechanism and will allow the process to proceed through the chamber’s established committee system once a complaint is formally filed.
