Abraham Quintanilla, father and former manager of late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, has died in Texas, family representatives and close associates confirmed this week.

Quintanilla played a central role in shaping Selena’s career, managing her from early childhood performances through her rise to international fame. He founded and managed the family band Selena y Los Dinos, oversaw recordings, tours, and business operations, and helped expand her audience across the United States and Latin America.

Following Selena’s death in 1995, Quintanilla dedicated himself to preserving and promoting her legacy. He worked on posthumous music releases, tribute albums, reissues of her recordings, and media projects, including televised specials and film adaptations of her life. He also contributed to museum exhibits, fan events, and public celebrations honoring Selena’s impact on Tejano music and Latin culture.

Known for his work managing licensing, trademarks, and commercial uses of Selena’s name and image, Quintanilla remained a public figure in the Tejano and Latin music communities, often giving interviews and participating in cultural events.

At the time of the announcement, details regarding funeral arrangements, memorial services, or public observances were not available. No law enforcement agency reported any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
