The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced in Manila that the education sector will receive P1.28 trillion under the House-approved Fiscal Year 2026 national budget.
DBM officials said the allocation will cover the budgets of the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, and state universities and colleges.
The funding aims to support basic education, higher education, and technical-vocational training programs across the country.
The House of Representatives approved the FY 2026 budget after deliberations that examined sectoral priorities, including education, health, infrastructure, and social services. DBM officials said the approved budget will now be transmitted to the Senate for review, amendment, and bicameral reconciliation.
The P1.28 trillion allocation will finance personnel services, maintenance and operating expenses, and capital outlays for education agencies and institutions.
Officials said the funds will also cover classroom construction, learning resources, scholarships, and other education support programs.
