UTAH — A judge ruled that the 22-year-old suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk may appear in upcoming court hearings in street clothes while remaining under physical restraints due to security requirements.

The court issued the order ahead of pre-trial hearings in Utah. The judge stated that the defendant may not wear jail attire during court appearances to avoid potential prejudice. The order also directs security personnel to keep the defendant restrained in the courtroom.

Court officers will enforce security protocols during the hearings. The judge noted that restraints will not prevent the defendant from communicating with counsel or participating in the proceedings.

The case has drawn significant public and media attention because the victim, Charlie Kirk, was a public figure with national visibility. The court has not released the trial schedule.

The defendant remains in custody pending trial. Proceedings continue with pre-trial motions and preparations from both prosecution and defense. Authorities have not released the defendant’s identity in advance of trial.
