The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) allocated ₱3 billion to improve internet connectivity in schools and public areas across the Philippines.
On Oct. 15, the DBM released the funds to expand access to digital resources and strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.
The allocation will support two major components: school connectivity improvements and the enhancement of the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) public Wi-Fi program.
The initiative seeks to provide students and educators with better access to online learning tools and promote digital inclusion in communities.
The DBM and DICT are working together to ensure the efficient rollout of internet infrastructure projects. Schools will receive funding to upgrade internet facilities, while the DICT will expand coverage and reliability of its public Wi-Fi services.
