Salad and Go, the drive-thru chain, has announced it will close all its locations in Houston, as well as several others across Texas and Oklahoma.

According to reports confirmed on Tuesday evening, employees at various Houston outlets were informed that their last working day would be Friday, September 19. The announcement, shared during a company meeting, has led to some confusion among staff about the extent of closures in Texas, with conflicting reports on whether operations in Dallas would continue.

QSR Magazine has reported that the chain intends to shutter 41 locations across Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and some in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Oklahoma. Mike Tattersfield, who took over as CEO in April, stated that these closures are part of a strategic move to refocus the company’s efforts and enhance the brand’s strength. Prior to these changes, Salad and Go operated around 140 outlets in states including Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada, with a notable presence across Houston.

The first Salad and Go opened in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2013, and the company relocated its headquarters to Coppell, Texas, expanding aggressively under former CEO Charlie Morrison. Despite these closures, the decision is seen as a necessary step amidst a challenging year for the dining industry, which is grappling with rising costs, inflation, and economic uncertainties that have affected revenues significantly. This move aligns with other notable restaurant closures in 2025, such as Pinstripes and Hamburger Mary’s, reflecting broader industry struggles.
