Matthew Golden, a first-round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 NFL Draft, purchased a home for his grandmother using his first NFL paycheck.
Golden, selected 23rd overall, prioritized buying a stable home for his grandmother after his family experienced housing instability years earlier.
Golden worked with Remax Fine Properties to find a suitable house after the family’s original home was declared irreparable. He sought a property in a safe neighborhood that included features his grandmother wanted, such as a kitchen island and a walk-in closet.
After touring multiple properties, Golden found a home that met his criteria. He kept the purchase a secret until the day he gave his grandmother the keys, marking an emotional moment.
Golden described the gift as possibly more significant than being drafted, emphasizing the importance of giving back—a value taught by his mother and grandmother.
Remax Fine Properties also gifted Golden’s grandmother an illustration of their old family home to preserve memories as she settled into her new residence.
