DALLAS — Simone Biles, an accomplished gymnast and 11-time Olympic medalist, secured two awards at the ESPY Awards held on July 16, 2025.

Biles received recognition as the Best Female Athlete, overcoming competition from significant sports figures such as Stephen Curry, Freddie Freeman, and Rory McIlroy.

Biles won the award for her remarkable performance at the Paris Games, which highlighted her exceptional skills and sportsmanship. This event further solidified her status as a leading figure in gymnastics and the sports world at large.

In the same ceremony, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded Best Male Athlete. Gilgeous-Alexander’s contributions to leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to an NBA championship earned him the accolades of league MVP and scoring champion, culminating in this ESPY award.

Oscar Robertson received the prestigious Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, in recognition of his substantial influence and achievements in the basketball world and his enduring commitment to social justice.

Additionally, the Icon Awards were presented to Diana Taurasi and Alex Morgan, acknowledging their significant impact and ongoing contributions to sports. Katie Schumacher-Cawley was honored with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, celebrating her resilience and determination in overcoming challenges.

Simone Biles’s triumph at the ESPY Awards underscores her continued influence and prominence in the field of gymnastics. Her achievements not only highlight her extraordinary talent but also serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes worldwide.
