Las Vegas, NV — Filipino-American rookie Dylan Harper delivered a standout performance in his NBA Summer League debut, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 76–69 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Harper, a guard from Rutgers University, recorded 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in just 19 minutes of play. His return from a groin injury showed no signs of setback, as he demonstrated a strong all-around game and contributed significantly to the Spurs’ win.

The matchup also marked Harper’s first on-court meeting with Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall draft pick out of Duke. Flagg finished with a game-high 31 points and delivered several crowd-pleasing dunks, but his performance was not enough to secure the win for the Mavericks.

The head-to-head contest between Harper and Flagg highlighted a potential emerging rivalry in the NBA. Both players showed competitive energy, with Harper making sharp passes and finishes, while Flagg displayed his trademark athleticism.

After the game, Harper spoke about the excitement of facing top-tier competition and acknowledged the crowd’s energy. He also expressed anticipation for future matchups with Flagg and the Mavericks.

While the NBA Summer League is primarily a developmental platform, the intensity of Sunday’s game and the individual performances of Harper and Flagg suggest the early signs of a long-term rivalry. Harper remains focused on his progression and the challenges ahead as he works to establish himself in the league.
