Manila, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially abolished the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs (OPAMPA) as part of an ongoing government reorganization effort.
The move was formalized through Executive Order No. 89, which was signed on July 11, 2023.
The executive order aims to enhance operational efficiency and simplify the structure of government functions. According to the order, the responsibilities previously assigned to OPAMPA will be transferred to other appropriate government agencies.
By redistributing OPAMPA’s functions, the administration intends to optimize performance and promote more effective policy implementation.
No specific agencies have been publicly named to assume OPAMPA’s former duties; however, officials have indicated that existing departments with overlapping mandates will take on this role.
