3 killed, 14 wounded in Austin bar shooting

AUSTIN, Texas — Three people, including the alleged shooter, were killed and 14 others injured in a mass shooting at Buford’s beer garden in Austin’s entertainment district early Sunday, authorities said.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said officers responded quickly after receiving reports of a male actively shooting. Upon arriving, officers confronted the suspect and returned fire, fatally wounding him.

Emergency services transported 14 injured victims to local hospitals, with three reported in critical condition, according to EMS Chief Robert Luckritz.

Mayor Kirk Watson praised the rapid response, saying first responders “definitely saved lives.”

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including any possible motives or connections between the victims.
