The Great Springs Project will build a 100-mile hike-and-bike trail connecting San Antonio to Austin.

A new Texas law supports the creation of this trail, with completion expected in 2036.

The trail will link existing and new paths through Barton Springs, San Marcos Springs, Comal Springs, and San Antonio Springs. The project promotes outdoor recreation, eco-tourism, and land conservation.

Planners are working with local, state, and federal partners to protect natural areas and gather public input. The trail will connect to parks and public spaces, offering a safe, accessible route for residents and visitors.
