SAN ANTONIO, Texas– Anti-ICE protests occurred in downtown San Antonio on June 11, with participants rallying against detentions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The protests, named “Take Back the Alamo,” took place in Alamo Plaza. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and the Texas National Guard were present to maintain order.
The protests were planned to be peaceful, despite the heavy law enforcement presence.
The San Antonio city leadership, including Mayor Ron Nirenberg, monitored the situation to ensure public safety.
The protests followed Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to deploy the National Guard to various locations in Texas amid growing unrest.
Roads around Alamo Plaza were closed to accommodate the demonstrators.
