SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 17-year-old male, identified as Hector Javier Vargas, died following a shooting at a graduation party on the city’s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The incident occurred late at night during a gathering that was reportedly attended by a number of young people. Police said Vargas was shot during the event and later died from his injuries. No arrests have been made as of this writing.
According to family members, Vargas was an aspiring barber who had plans to pursue further education in cosmetology. A fundraiser has been launched to help cover funeral expenses, and donations have been received from members of the community.
