WASHINGTON, D.C –Christopher Wray is set to step down from his position as the FBI Director ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Trump’s administration has declared its intention to appoint Kash Patel as Wray’s successor.
Wray has served as the FBI Director since August 2017. He was appointed by Trump following the dismissal of his predecessor, James Comey.
Previously, Patel served as a senior staffer on the House Intelligence Committee. There, he played a key role in producing a report that challenged the findings of the U.S. intelligence community regarding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. His work gained the attention and support of Trump allies, significantly raising his profile in political circles.
Patel’s nomination as FBI Director reflects the Trump administration’s aim to align the bureau’s leadership with its perspective and policies.
