SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The San Antonio Spurs recorded their first defeat of the NBA season after falling 130–118 to the Phoenix Suns on November 5, 2023, at the AT&T Center.

Victor Wembanyama, who had led the Spurs through a strong start to the season, struggled during the game, finishing with nine points on 4-of-14 shooting. The loss ended the Spurs’ five-game winning streak and marked Wembanyama’s first off night of the season.

Phoenix guard Devin Booker led the Suns with 28 points, guiding his team to a consistent offensive performance that kept them ahead throughout the game. The Suns’ defense limited San Antonio’s scoring opportunities, preventing the Spurs from establishing momentum.

The Spurs entered the matchup unbeaten after five straight victories. The loss underscored areas the team needs to address as it continues through the season. Head coach Gregg Popovich’s squad will look to adjust its strategy and regain form in upcoming games.

The defeat gave the Suns a key early-season win while offering the Spurs an opportunity to reassess performance and build resilience moving forward.
