KUWAIT CITY — Vice President Sara Duterte visited Kuwait on Friday to meet with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), amid ongoing scrutiny from Malacañang and Congress over her international travel schedule.
According to a statement from her office, Duterte’s visit focused on engaging with the Filipino community and addressing concerns related to their welfare. She held discussions with embassy officials and OFWs, which included topics such as working conditions, support services, and potential collaborations to improve their living and employment situations in Kuwait.
The Vice President’s office defended the trip, stating that her foreign visits aim to strengthen diplomatic relations and provide direct support to Filipinos abroad. The statement comes after recent questions raised by government officials regarding the frequency and purpose of her overseas engagements.
Duterte has conducted several international visits since taking office, prompting calls for greater transparency and justification for her travel schedule.
