AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation said there are no structural concerns with a flyover connecting U.S. Route 290 and Interstate 35 in North Austin after a photo circulated on social media appeared to show a crack in the bridge.

A TxDOT spokesperson told KVUE that the structure remains safe. The spokesperson said flyovers and bridges are designed to expand and contract in response to weather changes, which can create visible gaps.

The spokesperson also said traffic cones on the flyover were installed earlier when crews placed a metal plate at the site and are not related to any new issue.
