MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte’s net satisfaction rating has decreased significantly, marking the lowest point since she secured the highest number of votes for any Filipino officeholder in the country two years ago. The recent survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) shows a notable decline in public satisfaction with her performance.

Despite the drop in her satisfaction rating, the survey still categorized the outcome as ”good.” Approximately 65 percent of respondents expressed that they were satisfied with her performance, while 15 percent reported dissatisfaction. This result leaves Duterte with a net satisfaction rating of +50, which is a decrease from her previous standing.

Assessments of political leaders can vary over time, reflecting changes in public perception and the impact of their actions and policies. Duterte’s administration faced various challenges, including issues related to economic recovery, public health responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, and other political affairs. These factors may contribute to the shifting sentiments among the electorate.

The survey was conducted from September 30 to October 3, with a sample of 1,200 adult respondents nationwide. The margin of error for the survey is reported to be ±3% for national percentages. SWS conducts regular surveys to gauge public opinion on various political figures and issues, providing a snapshot of citizens’ perceptions and satisfaction.

In her role as Vice President, Duterte has focused on several initiatives, including educational reforms and local governance enhancements. However, the current dip in her ratings raises questions about the effectiveness of these efforts and public response to her leadership style.

Political analysts often examine satisfaction ratings to understand the electoral landscape and forecast potential outcomes in future elections. With another election cycle approaching, the significance of this decline could play a role in shaping voter priorities and decisions.

The results of this survey not only impact Duterte but also provide insights into the overall political climate in the Philippines. As public officials navigate their responsibilities, understanding the sentiments of constituents remains critical for maintaining trust and support within the community.

Duterte’s administration continues to monitor these feedback mechanisms to address concerns and enhance engagement with the public.
