Venus Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, will participate in the US Open mixed doubles event on August 19-20, in New York, alongside American Reilly Opelka.

The US Tennis Association announced on Tuesday the inclusion of Williams and Opelka among the 14 teams selected for the revamped event.

Williams, who turned 45 last month, made a return to competitive tennis after a year-long hiatus. She competed in the DC Open last week, where she won both her singles and doubles matches.

This marked her first participation in a WTA tournament since the Miami Open last year.
