Ukraine and Russia are moving toward a peace agreement to address the conflict that began with Russia’s 2022 invasion, according to a Ukrainian official who said only minor details remain before the deal is completed.

Ukraine and Russia have held ongoing discussions in recent weeks as negotiators work through proposals on territory, military withdrawals, and humanitarian provisions. An official said the talks have intensified, increasing the likelihood of a ceasefire.

Officials from the Trump administration have taken part in efforts to support negotiations between the two sides.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may travel to Washington, D.C. soon to discuss the terms of the emerging agreement. U.S. involvement remains part of the diplomatic process, and Ukrainian officials view the planned visit as a step toward finalizing the deal.

The war has caused large-scale casualties and displacement since 2022, drawing sustained international attention. Governments continue to monitor negotiations as both sides work to resolve remaining issues.
