SCOTLAND – U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, 29 July, inaugurated a new golf course in Scotland, concluding a five-day foreign visit that combined personal business interests with international trade discussions.
Trump, during the ceremony, said the new golf course would help boost tourism and provide economic benefits to the local community.
He added that the development would create jobs in the hospitality and service sectors and enhance Scotland’s profile as a global golfing destination.
The newly opened course is located in the Scottish countryside and becomes the latest addition to Trump’s international golf portfolio, which includes properties in the United States, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates.
Trump’s visit also featured initial talks with European Union officials focused on a potential trade agreement. While no formal deal was reached, both parties expressed interest in expanding U.S.–EU economic cooperation, particularly in the post-Brexit environment.
In addition to the inauguration, Trump toured existing properties, met with business associates, and held private meetings aimed at strengthening both his commercial interests and diplomatic relationships.
Trump has longstanding ties to Scotland, citing his mother’s Scottish heritage as a key factor behind his investments in the country.
