President Donald Trump signed a proclamation instituting a travel ban on nationals from 12 countries, with additional travel restrictions imposed on seven other nations. The new measures are set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday.

The administration stated the action aims to address potential security threats based on assessments conducted by intelligence and national security agencies.

The specific list of countries affected and details of the restrictions on the additional seven nations have not been publicly disclosed.

This proclamation continues the administration’s focus on national security and immigration controls. Previous travel bans under Trump’s presidency have targeted countries in the Middle East and Africa due to concerns related to terrorism and security infrastructure.

Officials noted the decision follows evaluations of countries’ ability to meet security standards, including information sharing and counterterrorism cooperation.

The new travel restrictions are expected to prompt diplomatic responses from the affected countries and may lead to legal challenges, as seen in earlier cases.
