WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump nominated Florida restaurateur Lee Lipton as the next United States Ambassador to the Philippines.

The White House announced the nomination on Wednesday, marking another key appointment in the administration’s diplomatic lineup.

Lipton owns several restaurants in Florida and enters the nomination process as the United States seeks to strengthen its presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

If confirmed, he will succeed the previous ambassador and take on a critical role in maintaining stability and deepening US-Philippine ties.

The ambassadorial post carries significant influence over defense cooperation, trade relations, and development programs in Southeast Asia.

Lipton’s business background is expected to bring a private-sector perspective to diplomatic and economic engagements with the Philippines.

The Senate must confirm his nomination before he officially assumes the position. Lawmakers are expected to question him on his plans to advance US interests in the region during the committee hearing.
