Washington, D.C. – John Schultz, an official from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), testified this week regarding ongoing deportation proceedings involving Abrego Garcia, a figure facing removal from the United States.
Schultz detailed the Trump administration’s efforts to expedite Garcia’s deportation, emphasizing ongoing coordination to secure a third country willing to accept him.
Schultz said that once approval from a receiving country is obtained, Garcia could be deported within 72 hours. He described this timeline as part of the administration’s priority to execute removal orders efficiently while adhering to legal and procedural requirements.
Schultz explained that the process often requires diplomatic discussions and adherence to international standards. Despite these challenges, Schultz expressed confidence that an agreement could soon be reached.
Officials continue to emphasize that all actions in Garcia’s case follow established legal frameworks. The administration has framed these proceedings as part of its larger goal of reinforcing national security and maintaining the integrity of immigration enforcement.
ICE officials said the agency remains focused on implementing deportation orders consistent with federal law and policy directives.
