Trump-era officials push for Abrego Garcia’s removal to Liberia

The Trump administration has formally requested a judge’s approval to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Liberia, following claims from his attorneys that a recent U.S. asylum officer interview did not provide adequate due process.

Abrego Garcia, currently in the United States, is involved in legal proceedings regarding his immigration status. His lawyers argue that last month’s interview fell short of legal standards, denying him a fair opportunity to present his case against deportation.

U.S. government officials maintain that the interview followed immigration law and standards, and that Abrego Garcia’s due process rights were respected. The administration is seeking court permission to proceed with the deportation.

Garcia’s attorneys contend that he was not given sufficient opportunity to challenge his removal, while supporters of the administration assert that established procedures balance individual rights with immigration enforcement needs.
