AUSTIN, Texas — Early voting for Texas primary runoff elections begins Monday and continues through May 22, with voters deciding races in which no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote during the March primary elections.

In Travis County, Democratic voters will decide the race for the County Commissioner Precinct 4 seat between former Travis County constable George Morales and Susanna Ledesma-Woody, a trustee for the Del Valle Independent School District.

The winner will replace the longtime commissioner representing Precinct 4, which covers parts of South and Southeast Travis County. The commissioners court oversees the county’s approximately $2.2 billion budget, which funds services including public safety, roads, parks, healthcare, housing and childcare programs.

Democratic runoff ballots also include races for statewide offices such as attorney general, lieutenant governor, a seat on the State Board of Education and the Texas House District 49 seat representing parts of Austin.

Republican voters will decide their nominee for the U.S. Senate race between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn. The winner will face James Talarico in the November general election.

Republicans will also choose a nominee for Texas’ 37th Congressional District between Ge’Nell Gary and Lauren B. Peña. The Republican nominee will face Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Casar in November.

Additional Republican runoff races include contests for attorney general, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and railroad commissioner.
