NEW YORK — A German tourist visiting the U.S. in 2024 has lost a $100,000 lawsuit against popular taco restaurant Los Tacos No. 1 after claiming their green salsa was too spicy.

Faycal Manz alleged that the salsa caused him digestion problems, high blood pressure, tongue blisters, and “nonstop pain,” despite attempts to ease his discomfort by drinking fluids and eating ice cream, according to multiple reports. He claimed the experience caused emotional distress.

U.S. District Judge Dale Ho dismissed the case in favor of the restaurant, noting that “spiciness is often the point” of salsa, the New York Post reported.

Interestingly, Manz reportedly filed two other lawsuits during his U.S. trip, one against Walmart over Wi-Fi access and another claiming the NYPD refused to accept his international phone number when he tried to report a crime.

The case drew attention as a rare legal complaint over the perceived heat level of restaurant food.
