U.S. officials fly back to Israel as Gaza ceasefire shows strain

Senior U.S. officials have returned to Israel after fresh clashes between Israeli forces and Hamas threatened the ceasefire agreement brokered under the current Trump administration.

The latest round of violence in Gaza strained the truce that has served as a central pillar of Trump’s Middle East peace efforts. The visiting delegation, which includes senior negotiators, has been tasked with stabilizing the situation and pressing both sides to honor the terms of the ceasefire.

The mission signals Washington’s attempt to prevent further escalation as accusations of violations continue from both camps. Israeli officials framed recent military actions as self-defense, while Hamas cited ongoing resistance against what it considers occupation.

Trump’s peace framework seeks a long-term resolution to the Gaza conflict through sustained negotiations and concessions from all parties.

The return of U.S. envoys comes at a sensitive moment, with diplomats aiming to reaffirm commitments from both Israeli and Palestinian leaderships. Officials in the region released limited statements but reiterated their entrenched positions on key disputes.
