MANILA, Philippines– Typhoon Tino has resulted in the deaths of at least 52 people in the Philippines, primarily affecting the Central Visayas region, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The typhoon has caused extensive flooding and landslides, impacting approximately 706,000 individuals and displacing 436,000 people into evacuation centers.
Central Visayas bore the brunt of the fatalities, with additional deaths reported in Eastern Visayas regions.
The NDRRMC confirmed 13 individuals remain missing and 10 have sustained injuries due to the typhoon’s impact.
In response to the widespread devastation, at least 53 local government units have declared a state of calamity.
Typhoon Tino continues to be active within the Philippine area of responsibility and is projected to exit by November 6.
