MANILA, Philippines — Thirdy Ravena remains eager to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas after helping the national squad reclaim the gold medal in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.
Speaking during the B.League Final Week at SM Megamall on Sunday, Ravena said he would never turn down an opportunity to represent the country if called upon again by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
“I’m always ready to play for my country, it’s never a question, anytime they ask me, I’ve always said yes,” Ravena told reporters.
The athletic guard said his stint with Gilas in last year’s SEA Games in Thailand gave him more than just another international medal, as it also helped him regain confidence after limited playing time overseas.
“It’s been a minute since I got to play a decent amount of minutes because back in Dubai, I didn’t play as much minutes as I did in Japan,” said Ravena, who became the B.League’s first Asian import in 2020.
Ravena added that the experience of competing alongside both longtime and new teammates, as well as working with the national team’s coaching staff and management, made the campaign even more meaningful.
“Having all those amazing players, old and new teammates plus an amazing coaching staff and management as well, it was a great experience especially after winning that gold,” he said.
